Information for Candidates

What is the weekend like? How long does it last?

Talk to your sponsor about the Cursillo Weekend. There are no secrets, but there are things we refrain from talking about so that you can openly enjoy the weekend without higher expectations. Ask your potential sponsor or someone you know who has attended a Cursillo Weekend to take you to an Ultreya before the Cursillo weekend. This will give you some of the flavors of a weekend.

Cursillo weekends begin on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Your Sponsor will provide your transportation to and from the Sarto Retreat Center. Be sure to have dinner before you arrive on Thursday. You will need to do nothing else when you arrive except relax and participate in the weekend! The weekend will end Sunday evening around 7:30 p.m.

What should I bring to the weekend?

Bring comfortable clothing appropriate to the season. Dress is typically casual. You may bring Sunday clothes for the closing ceremony. Bedding, washcloths, pillows, and towels will be provided at Sarto retreat house, but you are welcomed to bring your own if you choose.

What should I NOT bring to the weekend?

It is recommended to leave all wordly attractions at home. Cell phones, laptops, pagers, and others are a distraction to your spiritual growth. We will have means to communicate with your family in case of emergency.

Where is this weekend held?

SARTO Retreat House - 4200 N Kentucky Ave, Evansville, IN 47711

What happens after the weekend?

After your THREE day weekend, candidates enter their FOURTH day, which continues until they enter Heaven, or FIFTH day. Each individual who returns from the weekend with a renewed commitment to work for Christ is encouraged to join in the activities of an existing community of persons who have also experienced the weekend. The purpose of this community is to give strength and support to each other in order that each person might grow in faith and develop their particular gifts of ministry.
