Angel Picture
Wisconsin, 1996
In northern Wisconsin during the Christmas break 1996, a 21 year old
college student who was home for the holidays decided to take advantage
of a recent snowfall with an outing on the family snowmobile.
While driving through the woods at too high a rate of speed, he lost
control of the vehicle and slammed into a tree, his body hitting the
tree head-first.
The young man's father came upon the wreck and finding his son unconscious,
called the paramedics. Life Flight was contacted to take the
son to a nearby trauma center because his situation was so grave.
The father contacted his wife who was working in the same community as
the hospital and she immediately went to meet the helicopter. On the roof
of the building, she began taking pictures of the incoming helicopter
hoping to chronicle for her son his journey to wellness despite doctor's
admonitions that her son would likely not survive his massive head and
internal injuries.
A few weeks later, upon developing the film taken that day, she came across
this picture, the angel appearing where the helicopter should have been.
During her son's long (and full) recovery, this photograph never left his side;
God's gift of hope to the entire family.
